Cricut (hand drawn) Christmas Cards

Each day I am going to try and create at least one item using my Cricut. The aim is to find ways to use it that I haven’t tried before. Whether this be for Christmas crafts, or just things to brighten up our home I’m hoping for a handmade Christmas.

The first thing I decided to make was a Christmas card for my Mum. She’s a care worker and loves Christmas so there’s a fair few crafts coming her way this year.

Here’s what I used

  • Cricut maker fine point pen in black
  • Heavy cardstock (mine was from Hobbycraft but you can pick anything you want).
  • Strong grip Cricut matt
  • Single Scorer

Here’s how I made it

Cricut design space isn’t the most intuitive software, so sometimes you have to get a bit creative. I pay for their subscription, so for me this opens an additional world of options, but I will be working on a non paid version of this tutorial, so keep an eye out.

The first thing I did was search for a template within design space. The one I liked had a scalloped bottom to it.

Once I had selected this I wanted to pick a holiday theme that my Cricut could draw. To do this I went to Holidays and from the right hand side selected draw and Christmas.

There’s so many beautiful options, I picked the first one, but I’ll be making some more throughout the holiday season.

Here’s the tricky bit, you’ll need to rotate and fit your drawing to the card, make sure your drawing is the top layer. Otherwise you won’t be able to see it.

Once you’ve done this you’ll need to attach it, that way it’ll draw on the card, if you forget to do this like I did, you’ll end up with a card and a drawing.

TADAHHH! You’re good to go!
